"Save a Presentation? And backup copy…"

To save a presentation, you can either save in your computer hard drive or other device such as diskette or handy/flash drive.

You can store new or existing presentations on disk. If you not save the file, you will be unable to view the presentation in the future. Once saved, you can re-open the file for viewing or editing.

The entire PowerPoint presentation is saved in a single file, and any graphics, charts, or other elements are incorporated into that single file.

To save a presentation (first time)

• From Office button, click Save

OR Click the Save button on the Quick Access Toolbar.

• From the Save As dialog box displayed, ensure that you browse to the folder/disk drive that you would like to save the file.
• Enter the file name in the File name: text box. The file name can be up to 255 characters in length.
• Click on the Save button.

After you have once saved a presentation, you can resave it with the same settings (same file type, name, and location) in any of the following ways:

If you need to save your presentation under a different name, as a different file type, or in a different location, use the Save As command instead. You also can use the Save As command to save the file as a backup copy.

To save a backup copy (subsequent times)

• From Office Button, click Save As.
• Enter a name in the File name: text box.
• Click on the Save button.

The first time you save a presentation, PowerPoint opens the Save As dialog box, prompting you for a name and location. Thereafter, when you save that presentation, PowerPoint uses the same settings and does not prompt you for them again.
