"Microsoft Word 2010 - Getting Started!"

Microsoft Word 2010 is the most popular word processing program in the world. It's abundance of features and ease of use leaves it unmatched.

You are about to embark on a journey into the world of Microsoft Word 2010. But first, as a starting you must know how to open the Word.

Here are several ways to open the Word program, here I will use the most common way of opening Word from the All Programs menu.

To start Microsoft Word 2010 from the Start Menu

  • Click on the Start button, point to All Programs then click on Microsoft Office and click on Microsoft Office Word 2010 again.
  • Start Microsoft Word 2010

  • A blank document appears on your screen ready for you to begin entering your data.

You also can place a shortcut in desktop to open the Word program to allow quick access to the program. Once you do that, just double-click on the Word shortcut to launch the program.

To create a desktop shortcut

  • Right-click on the Microsoft Word 2010 icon (under the Start - All Programs - Microsoft Office menu) and choose Send To and click the Desktop (create shortcut).

If this is your first time to use Microsoft Word 2010, you may be a little overwhelmed by all the buttons and items on the screen. Don't worry!!

Just remember that although Word is a powerful application, it's also easy to use, which is why most businesses have adopted it as a company standard. You'll be creating your first document after just a couple of mouse clicks.

However, if you want to master the Word advanced features, it's not very easy. Again, just follow the rest of the tutorials on this site; you are on the way to master all the Word skills.
