"Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 - Getting Started"

Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 is the most popular presentation application in the world. It's rich of features and ease of use leaves it unmatched.

If you are making the move from PowerPoint 2003 to 2010, you will notice that the interface was changed dramatically. You need to spend a little time getting used to the new tools and features, you'll find that the PowerPoint 2010 is actually easier to use, although you have a small learning curve to go through.

If you worked with PowerPoint 2007, you may familiar with the interface and hence it's easier for you to master PowerPoint 2010.

You are about to embark on a journey into the world of Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. But first, as a starting you must know how to get PowerPoint started.

There are several ways to open the PowerPoint program, here I will use the most common way of opening PowerPoint 2010.

To start Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 from the Start Menu

  • Click on the Start button, point to All Programs then click on Microsoft Office and click on Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010 again.
  • Start Microsoft PowerPoint 2010

  • A blank slide appears on the screen ready for you to begin creating the presentation.

To exit Microsoft PowerPoint 2010

  • Click on the File tab and then click Exit. The program closes and the Windows desktop reappears.

You also can place a shortcut in desktop to open the PowerPoint program faster. Once you do that, just double-click on the PowerPoint shortcut in the desktop to launch the program.

To create a desktop shortcut

  • From the Start menu, point to All Programs, then click Microsoft Office and right-click on Microsoft PowerPoint 2010.

If this is your first time to use Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, you may be a little overwhelmed by all the buttons and items on the screen. Don't worry!!

Just remember that although PowerPoint is a powerful presentation program, it's not difficult to use, which is why most businesses have adopted it as a company standard. You'll be creating your first presentation after just a couple of mouse clicks.
