Do you know that the Excel shortcut keys can apply to most cell formatting?

As you know, Excel provides a wide range of formatting for both the contents of cells and their appearance so that the cells show exactly the data you want, and in the right format.

You can achieve that by using the mouse or keyboard shortcuts. The following are the 14 shortcuts keys to format cells, hiding and unhiding rows and columns.

1. Display the Style dialog box
[Alt]+[']

2. Display the Format Cells dialog box
[Ctrl]+[1] This shortcut works only with the 1 key in the key row, not the 1 key on the keypad.

3. Apply the General format
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[~]

4. Apply the two-decimal-place Currency format
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[$]

5. Apply the Percentage format (no decimal places)
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[]

6. Apply the Exponential format with two decimal places
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[^]

7. Apply the DD+MMM+YY date format
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[#]

8. Apply the HH:MM AM/PM time format
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[@]

9. Apply the two-decimal-place number format with the thousands separator
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[!]

10. Toggle strikethrough
[Ctrl]+[5]


Shortcuts for Hiding and Unhiding Rows and Columns

11. Hide all selected rows
[Ctrl]+[9]

12. Hide all selected columns
[Ctrl]+[0]

13. Unhide hidden rows in the selection
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[(]

14. Unhide hidden columns in the selection
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[)]
