"Excel 2007 CELL Function"The Excel 2007 CELL function is one of a group of "Information Functions" that can be used to return information about the formatting, location, or contents of a specific cell.
So, the CELL function's job is to give out information about a cell such as its formatting, the type of data it contains, and whether or not the cell is locked or protected. For example, if you want to verify that a cell contains a numeric value instead of text before you perform a calculation on it, you can use the CELL function. The syntax for the CELL function is: = CELL (info_type, [reference])
info_type - the type of cell information you want to return. It's a text value.
